What's on the ballot

A long one: federal, state, county, school board, and one amendment

  • U.S. Senate and U.S. House.
  • Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor.
  • Minnesota Senate and Minnesota House. Which districts depends on your address.
  • Hennepin County Sheriff and County Attorney. County Commissioner seats are up in Districts 2, 3 and 4 only.

Four candidates advanced from the August primary, listed here alphabetically: Michael Baskins, Collin Beachy (incumbent), Christin Crabtree and Stephanie Johnson. Kenny sits in Board District 6, whose seat is next up in 2028. The board you elect takes office in January 2027; the Nov 10 vote on school closures is by the current board.
  • Judges.
  • One statewide constitutional amendment on how the permanent school fund pays out to school districts. Leaving it blank counts the same as a no vote. The question, from the Secretary of State →
  • Any local ballot questions for your precinct show up on your sample ballot.

Registering and what to bring

Not registered at your current address? You can still vote.

  • Check first. Look up your registration status in a minute. If it's current, you need nothing at the polls; Minnesota has no voter ID requirement for registered voters.
  • Register when you vote. Pre-registration closed Oct 13, but you can register at your polling place on Election Day or at any early vote center. Bring proof of residence: a Minnesota driver's license or ID with your current address; or a photo ID plus a document with your current name and address (a bill, bank statement or lease); or a registered voter from your precinct who can vouch for you. The full list of accepted proofs →
  • Time off work. Minnesota law lets you take the time you need to vote on Election Day without losing pay. Details →
